BHUSHUNDIR MATHE, BAGA theatrical production, is based on a classic ghost story by Parashuram (Rajshekhar Basu). In the wasteland between earth and the afterlife, roams the ghosts of mortal sins. The Brahmin priest becomes a Brahmadoitya, while in the branches of burnt out trees lurk the Shakchunnis, Dainis and Petnis. The desolate landscape is often punctuated by the mesmerizing and misleading calls of the Nishi leading one to certain death. Bands of musicians and dancers dance and sing and bring joyous raucousness and moments of comic upliftment.
But wait! Amidst the melancholy blooms the passions of love, and a longing of life and loved ones left behind. Relationships ebb and flow and often turn out not to be what they seem to be on the surface. After all, this is Bhsundir Maath - a land of fantasy and unfulfilled passions.
